Our Story
“Growing up in Nashville, my dad, Newt Billings, operated a family moving business located on historic 2nd Avenue under the name Acme Moving Company. As a curious young sprout, I remember asking him what the word Acme meant. He explained to my two brothers and me that Acme means excellent, the best—top of the line. More importantly, Acme put us first alphabetically in the Yellow Pages, which was the main form of advertising at the time. And if that wasn’t enough, the name was also popular back then thanks to the Wile E. Coyote cartoons—his character always used Acme-branded items, from dynamite to glue. Years later, in 1985, my dad retired from the moving business. Upon his recommendation, I began serving the Greater Nashville area under my own name Keith Billings, DBA Acme Moving Service—for all the same reasons, and to carry on and maintain the tradition of excellence. You could say moving is in my DNA.”
